ITTEHAAD works on the principles of Mutual Aid: when a member meets an unfortunate event, others contribute to help him/her on agreed terms & conditions. When no one needs help, no one contributes and that’s how it is different from insurance. Members commit to contribute a minimum amount (20 Rs) whenever funds are required for another member’s treatment. Members can choose a higher monthly contribution option  (50, 100, or 1000 Rs) if they like however this does not increase the amount of cover for them as the principle ideology is “equal outcome for all”. Contributions are deducted automatically on the 1st of every month depending on the funds required for those who need e.g. If 10 million Rs are required for treatment and the total members are 2 million, only 5 Rs will be deducted from each member’s account. Funds are sent to hospitals directly within 3 days as advance payment for treatment eliminating the need of a claim process which makes it easy for those in need. See FAQs for more.
